Types of JFT

There is only one type of JFT-Basic test offered. It assesses your overall understanding of basic Japanese across four key areas.

Understanding JFT 

The JFT-Basic is divided into four sections:

Script and Vocabulary: Tests your knowledge of Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji, and basic vocabulary usage. 

Conversation and Expression: Evaluates your understanding of grammar and ability to construct simple sentences for everyday situations. 

Listening Comprehension: Measures your listening skills in scenarios like conversations or announcements. 

Reading Comprehension: Assesses your ability to understand written Japanese used in daily life, such as signs, emails, or news articles. 

 

The total score for the JFT-Basic is not publicly available. Each section contributes to your overall proficiency level.

JFT Score Acceptance

Used by employers, schools, or immigration authorities to determine if you possess the basic Japanese communication skills needed for your purposes.

JFT Score Validity

Your JFT results are valid for two years, providing you with ample time to achieve your basic Japanese communication goals in Japan.
